“The transition to renewable energy isn’t just an ecological imperative — it is the most significant economic opportunity of the 21st century. At Capstone, we engineer infrastructure that delivers on both fronts.” — Chris Black

From the

Front Line
of Energy.

Chris Black didn’t arrive at Capstone Solutions through a corner office or a business school network. He got here the hard way — earning his credentials one voltage panel, one tower climb, and one deployment at a time.

United States Air Force · Oregon Air National Guard
Electrical Systems NCOIC, 142nd Civil Engineering Squadron — where precision isn’t optional and failure isn’t an allowable outcome.

His military service forged more than technical skills. It built the kind of character that shows up early, stays late, and never passes a problem to someone else. The 142nd Civil Engineering Squadron at Portland Air National Guard Base doesn’t train electricians — it trains people who keep critical infrastructure alive under pressure. Chris carried every one of those lessons into civilian life.

After his service, Chris moved into the commercial wireless world at Westower Communications, where he cut his teeth on the complex, high-stakes world of telecommunications infrastructure. Tower work teaches you something that no classroom can: that the work has consequences, that the physics don’t negotiate, and that a team that trusts each other gets home safe.

That foundation — military discipline, hands-on electrical mastery, telecom field experience — is exactly what Capstone needed when Chris walked through the door. More than two decades of building things that actually work don’t just make you good at the job. They make you someone the whole team leans on.

A Career Built,
Not Handed.

USAF
ORANG

Electrical Systems NCOIC

142nd Civil Engineering Squadron, Oregon Air National Guard. Responsible for the electrical infrastructure that keeps aircraft, personnel, and critical systems operational. No margin for error.

Telecom

Westower Communications

Took military-grade precision into the commercial tower industry. Mastered the full lifecycle of wireless infrastructure — from foundation to antenna — across the Pacific Northwest.

Capstone

Director of Electrical & Civil Operations

Brought his full arsenal of field expertise to Capstone Solutions. Became the licensed backbone of the company’s electrical operations in Oregon — his name is on the permit, his standards are on every project.

Growing

Director of Business Development

As Capstone’s reach expands into utility-scale renewable energy and 5G infrastructure, Chris’s role has grown with it. Now bridging institutional capital with actionable, real-world projects — the rare operator who can speak both languages.

The Qualities
We Celebrate.

Ask anyone who has worked alongside him. These aren’t talking points — they’re observations.

01

He Shows Up

The military doesn’t produce people who wait to be asked. Chris brings the same reliability to every project, every team meeting, every commitment he makes. If Chris said he’d be there, he’s already there.

02

He Knows the Work

There’s a difference between managing electrical projects and understanding them from the inside out. Chris earned his journeyman credentials the old-fashioned way — thousands of hours in the field. That knowledge doesn’t depreciate.

03

He Speaks Both Languages

Not many people can walk a job site, read a one-line diagram, and then sit across the table from an institutional investor and make the case credibly. Chris can. That’s rare. That’s valuable. That’s why his role keeps growing.

04

He Brings People With Him

Leaders who came up through service understand that the mission is a team effort. Chris invests in the people around him — technically, professionally, personally. The people who’ve worked with him tend to stay.

05

He Sees What’s Coming

The energy and telecom industries are converging in ways that most people haven’t caught up to yet. Chris has been living at that intersection for two decades. He’s not reacting to the future — he’s been building it.

06

He Does It With Integrity

His name is on the license. His word is his bond. In an industry where corners get cut and standards get bent, Chris’s work ethic is the kind that raises the bar for everyone around him — quietly, consistently, every single day.

The Most Important
Infrastructure of
Our Lifetime.

Chris understands that what Capstone is building isn’t just projects — it’s the energy backbone that the next generation will depend on. Every solar array, every 5G deployment, every electrical system his team designs and installs is a piece of infrastructure that will outlast all of us.

That’s not a small thing to carry. And it’s exactly the kind of weight that Chris Black was built to carry.
